Class 132(3) An archery bow is made of longitudinally disposed resin bonded glass fibres and the belly side of the bow has a larger cross-sectional area than the-back side to compensate for the lower compressive strength of the glass fibres relative to their tensile strength, the two sides being separated by the neutral axis of the bow. The bow may be of rectangular section with a channel in the back, the cross-sectional shape varying along the length of the bow in the manner indicated in Figs. 2, 3 and 4. Alternatively, the bow may have a rib along its back or may be of triangular section, the cross-section varying in a similar manner to that of channel section. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 750,881. |
