784,734. Storing gases under pressure. CARBONIQUE FRANCAISE. Dec. 30, 1955 [Jan. 4, 1955], No. 37351/55. Class 8(2). Freezing of the water vapour content of gas being expanded at a valve 13 in the discharge line of a compressed or liquefied gas cylinder 2 is prevented by warming the gas by conduction from a heated body of liquid 17 prior to said expansion to such an extent that the temperature of the expanded gas does not fall below 0‹C. In operation liquid carbon dioxide is forced up a dip tube 1 through a valved duct 5 and a coil 9 in the body of liquid 17, e.g., oil and the so vaporized carbon dioxide passes through a chamber 11 containing a sheathed temperatureresponsive bulb 21 which controls an electric heating element 19 and thence to the valve 13. Burstable safety capsules 4, 7 are provided at a discharge valve 3 and a union 6. |
