The disengaging device is for a gear shift of which the gear shift lever (1) has a ball (2) in a plastics bearing shell (3) in a bearing casing (4) in a selecting plane, and able to move at an angle in several shift planes. There are Bowden cables (7,8) extending at a right angle to the gear shift lever. The Bowden cables transmit the lever movements to the shift elements. Two pins (5,6) at right angle to the free lower end of the gear shift lever have Bowden cables on their radially outer ends. Each pin is connected to a shift element of the gear shift, so that the wire core of one of them is connected by a universal joint to the end of one of the pins, and the cable shell is fixed to the bearing casing transversely to the longitudinal axis of the pin.
