PURPOSE:To remove troubles in carrying a coil and to improve yield by making up a metallic sleeve so that it rotates freely at a prescribed oblique angle to a roll shaft. CONSTITUTION:An oblique rotating roll for a hot strip is composed of a straight roll shaft 30, plural self-aligning bearings 32 provided symmetrically to the center line of the roll shaft and a metallic sleeve 40 put on the outer rings of these bearings 32. The metallic sleeve 40 is made up so that it is rotated freely at a prescribed oblique angle to the roll shaft 30. At least one oblique rotating roll made up like this is used to a pinch roll for the hot strip. This pinch roll is equipped in a coiler of a hot strip finish rolling mill to make up a meandering preventing device for the hot strip. In this way, the coiled posture in carrying a coil can be improved.
