PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording liquid for ink jet, capable of providing an image excellent in transparency, brightness and water resistance to various materials to be recorded and good in discharging stability in a nozzle by dispersing a specific colorant comprising an organic pigment and barium sulfate in a medium containing water. SOLUTION: This recording liquid for ink jet is obtained by dispersing a colorant prepared by blending (B) 100 pts.wt. particulate organic pigment having 0.01-0.5μm particle diameter (e.g. the one prepared by carrying out the salt milling of an organic pigment such as a quinacridone-based, a phthalocyanine- based or an azo-based organic pigment with a water-soluble solvent and a water-soluble inorganic salt in an amount of 2-20 times based on the solvent) with 1-500 pts.wt. particulate barium sulfate having 0.01-0.1μm particle diameter in (A) a medium containing water. Furthermore, the recording liquid preferably comprises the (B) in an amount of 0.1-10wt.% based on the total amount of the recording liquid. |
