PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute dye sublimation type thermal transfer and dye fusion type thermal transfer by providing an output conveyor means for removing an image forming member from a support means without generating the contact of an image with an adjacent platen and a means for automatically performing the loading and unloading of the image forming member with respect to the support means. SOLUTION: An image forming unit has the carriage 220 moving in parallel to the shaft of a drum 30 and performs relative movement between the carriage 220 and an internal drum material support member. An exposure beam source generates the exposure beam 222 turned toward a drum surface 224 through an optical system. The exposure beam 222 scans the drum surface 224 designated by an arrow and modulated by the digital image data supply connection unit from a restering image processor. The operation of the carriage along the shaft of the drum is synchronized to beam scanning in order to linearly scan modulation beam and an output image is formed on the drum surface 224.
