<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain 4,6-diaminoresorcinol by subjecting 4,6-bis(aryl azo)resorcinol to hydrocracking reaction by using a soluble metal catalyst. SOLUTION: A mixture of 4,6-bis(aryl azo)resorcinol and a solvent (e.g. methanol) is mixed with hydrogen by stirring, etc. The resultant mixture is subjected to hydrocracking reaction by using a soluble metal catalyst (e.g. palladium acetate) at from -30 deg.C to 100 deg.C under a hydrogen pressure of 1-100kg/cm<2> .G to obtain the objective material. The using amount of the solvent is 1-50wt.% times and the catalyst is 0.005-10wt.% in terms of a metal, respectively based on 4,6-bis(aryl azo)resorcinol. A 4,6-diaminoresorcinol is useful as a raw material for polybenzobisoxazole, etc., having excellent heat resistance and resistance to chemicals.</p> |
