PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high quality silane industrially advantageously, capable of maintaining especially a high selectivity of a dialkyldihalosilane, and also less in loss of a contacting body due to scattering by a rapid and uniform reaction while maintaining the good fluidity of the contacting body. SOLUTION: This method for producing an (alkylhalo)silane expressed by the formula: Rn SiX4-n [R is a 1-4C lower alkyl group; (n) is 0-4 integer; X is a halogen atom] by a direct reaction method of introducing a gas containing an alkylhalide after loading a contacting body containing metallic silicon powder and a copper catalyst into a reaction vessel 1, is to adjust the particle diameter of the contacting body in a fluidized layer-type reaction vessel under the progression of the reaction so as to contain <=150μm mean particle diameter, >=10wt.% particles having <=30μm particle diameter and also particles having >=90μm particle diameter. |
