CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF ULTRAHIGH-ABSORPTIVE POLYMER FROM POLYACRYLONITRILE EMULSION

摘要

Continuous preparation of superabsorbent polymers comprises hydrolysing aqueous emulsions of (non-)cross-linked polyacrylonitrile (PAN) homo- and/or copolymers at PAN concentrations of 10 - 45 wt.% in the reaction mixture with alkali hydroxide solutions at 50 - 100 degrees C in a continuously operating reactor suitable for high viscosity reactions. The highly viscous gel product is continuously precipitated with low boiling point monoalcohols to form a superabsorbent powder.
