PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant that is derived from tea or carrot leaves to serve as a food or beverage deodorant that is effective even for strong odors of excrement, garbage, and industrial wastes without impairing appetites and tastes. SOLUTION: Frozen, dry powders of used tea leaves, obtained by immersing tea leaves in 70 deg.C hot water for two minutes for elution of water-soluble components, freezing and drying the tea leaves obtained, and pulverizing the leaves to about 100 meshes, and branched, frozen dry powders of carrot leaves, obtained by immersing carrot leaves in 90 deg.C hot water for twelve minutes for a branching process, then freezing and drying them, and pulverizing them to about 100 meshes, are blended together in a weight ratio of 1:1, and this blend exhibits a very excellent deodorizing effect. When added to foods or beverage, it does not impair appetites and tastes. |
