PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce a low sulfur and high carbon-containing reduced iron regardless of the grade of a raw material ore by dividing reduction process into two. SOLUTION: This reduction process is divided into a first reduction process and a second reduction process. In the first reduction process, the reduction of the ore is executed and also, iron carbide is stabilized by making sulfur adsorbed at the step which the surface of the ore particle is metallized and further, the carbonization is progressed based on carburization. As the sulfur source, e.g. iron sulfide is added. As a result, this process can be executed at high temp. and the productivity is improved. On the other hand, since the reducing gas used for the reduction of the ore has desulfurizing action, too this point is utilized, and successively, the reduction is executed in the second reduction process and also, the excess sulfur adsorbed in the first reduction process is removed. Since even if the desulfurization is progressed, the decomposition of iron carbide does not immediately occur and since the stability of the iron carbide is kept with the sulfur before desulfurizing, the high temp. operation can be executed in the second reduction process, too and the production of the iron carbide is promoted. |
