PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an anti-HIV agent containing an organic extract of a specific plant, having antiviral action on HIV and effective even against a resistant strain to a reverse transcriptase inhibitor. SOLUTION: This anti-HIV contains an organic extract of a plant belonging to the family Euphorbiaceae (e.g. a material obtained by drying and grinding the leaf, stem or root of Sangreado which is a herb grown in Paraguay, extracting the ground material with a 1-4C halogenated alkyl such as dichloromethane or a 1-4C alcohol such as methanol at an ambient temperature, concentrating the resultant extract liquid under reduced pressure and, as necessary, evaporating the concentrate to dryness or further purifying the concentrate by silica gel column chromatography). Furthermore, the daily dose of the medicine is 0.1-200mg/kg expressed in terms of the amount of the organic extract (concentrated and dried material) and administered in one to five divided portions. |
