PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-quality optical fiber preform without generating bubbles or crystals. SOLUTION: The fine powder of an optical fiber material is deposited on a glass rod for and optical fiber including a light transmitting part, heated and vitrified to produce an optical fiber preform. In this case, the surface of the glass rod for an optical fiber including a light transmitting part is cleaned with a detergent before the fine powder is deposited on the rod. and then cleaned with high-purity water, and the rod is rotated at >=500r.p.m. to drip the high-purity water depositing on the rod. |
