PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a processed base paper excellent in dimensional stability, interlayer strength and surface smoothness, and also low in skin irritancy, by making a pulp slurry containing glass fibers with flat cross section into paper. SOLUTION: Mixed bleached kraft pulp derived from broadleaf tree and coniferous tree is beaten and then incorporated with 0.5-50 (pref. 1-20)wt.% of glass fibers with flat cross section 10-70μm in major diameter dimension, 2-12 (pref. 3-6) in the ratio of major diameter to minor diameter, and 1-25 (pref. 3-13)mm in fiber length and also with a paper strengthening agent, etc., followed by conducting a papermaking and then drying, thus obtaining the objective processed base paper.
