The invention relates to chewable compositions comprising: i) a chewable base, ii) a non-confined active agent, iii) a water-releasable, entrapped active agent, and iv) a hydrophobically coated active agent, the active agent being entrapped by a matrix comprising: (a) a water-soluble carrier; and (b) a hydrophobic material having a melting point in the range from 35 DEG C to 70 DEG C. The compositions provide for extended release of the active agent, in particular for extended throat soothing. |
