The system secures a shoe or other three-dimensional item in a horizontal or vertical position as desired. An initially-flat elastic component is pulled taut in all directions over the shoe etc., and then secured along its periphery to a wall or holder. Tightening can be so carried out that the outlines of the shoe are fully visible from the outside, for easy identification. The item is of greater height than the box accommodating it. The item can be placed against the flat rear wall of the box, which has a hinging lid. A frame fixed to the lid within its periphery accommodates the taut flat elastic component, so that when shut pressure is exerted by the item on the frame, necessitating an additional locking device to hold the box shut.
