A bag which has had its bottom flap folded over and glued by a first gripper cylinder (12, Figure 1) cooperating with a first blade cylinder (16, Figure 1) and a gluing bar, is passed downstream to a second gripper cylinder 24 where the formed bag is further folded. The folded end is lifted away from the gripper cylinder 24 by a suction element 34 on a blade cylinder 30. A blade 32 folds the bag into a gripper 26 which holds the fold while the previously leading edge is folded back, stabilised by a rake fan 36 comprising guide plates 38 in a spiral configuration. The fold then passes under a guide plate 40 and a pressing-on roller 42. A further blade roller 44 may be provided to form a second fold in the bag, this fold being held by another gripper 28 while the first gripper 26 is released allowing the leading edge rise up and be folded back by a guide plate 48. <IMAGE> |
