The packaging has a tubular section (1) to enclose the side surface of the sausage (2). The tubular section has a continuous base (3) connected to sidewalls (4,5) coupled by an upper wall. The sidewalls and the upper wall (6) can have transverse grooves which are regularly spaced and are of a width adapted for the passage of a cutting blade allowing the cutting off of slices of the sausage. Some of the grooves are perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tubular sleeve.
