The support has removable components (12) inserted between adjacent plants consisting of bars running horizontally between the plants which can slide in holes in a component (8) at one side between horizontal and vertical positions. In the working position the bars can be above and clear of a base (3), and they can be supported by a U-shaped frame. The ends can be bent over to fit in holes in parallel frame members (7,8) and there can be a stop on each bar at a short distance from the bent-over end and resting on a frame member in the vertical position. The base can be formed by a frame fitting round the edge of a crate.
