Gas discharge vessel with cold spots e.g. for low pressure gas discharge lamp

A gas discharge container has a glass U-shaped tube or several connected ones with a cold spot to stabilise the gas pressure. The cold spot is formed by displacement of the centres of the inner and outer radii of curvature in the U-bend. With identical centres of curvature, the cold spot is formed by enlarging the outer radius to a value that is greater than the sum of the inner radius and the tube diameter.
