The modular element (10) is made of metal. It consists of two panel-shaped parts (11), fastened to each other in several points (23) and at relative distances. Each part has a circumferential edge section (R). At least part of this section, and opposite folds (13) of the parts form a fastening groove (15). The parts are fastened parallel to each other. The fastening points are formed by opposite imprints (26) in the parts. The facing surfaces of these are glued or welded to each other. Alternatively, connection elements (12) may be used. Passage apertures are positioned next to fastening points.
