The switch has metal folding bellows (11) whose individual bellows (12-14) have different spring rates and are successively compressed by a defined stroke length according to their spring rates. During switching off, the individual bellows with the lowest spring rate is compressed by a stroke length which essentially corresp. to the switching stroke of the movable switch contact from the "on" (H0) to the "switch" (H1) positions. Thereafter, the individual bellows with increasing spring rates can be compressed by a defined stroke length between the positions "switch" and "insulate" (H2) of the movable switch contact, whereby at least the stroke lengths of the bellows before that with the longest stroke length are limited by stops.
