Volatile contaminant removal from gases

Removing volatile contaminants from gases, comprises use of a gas washing unit. The gas to be cleansed is passed through the unit. The washing fluid is drawn out of the unit continuously or intermittently, and passed to a low pressure vessel. The reduced pressure enables the contaminants to be removed. The cleansed fluid is returned to the gas washing unit. The contaminants are removed using a vacuum pump.
