The mat has columnar elastic foam elements (2,3) of circular cross-section. These adjoin along their longitudinal axes and are joined by connections (4) in the form of loops or clamps fitting into radial holes (6) and sleeves (7). The connections are prevented from slipping out by means of fastenings. The sleeves are in two interfitting and interlocking parts (8,9).
