The method includes the supply of pallets semi-automatically or automatically to the measurement table (2) of the coordinate measuring unit. The pallet (4) after each supply operation is arranged on the measuring table, in a position which is reproducible. The pallet is transportable over rollers (6), which are arranged in a plate (20) of the measurement table. The roller plate (6,20) together with the pallet, after its supply to the table is lowered. The pallet is located on stationary bearings (21,22) of the measuring table, which with the lowering of the plate (20) engage through recesses (23,24) in the plate.
