The invention relates to a pressure wave sensor consisting of a piezoelectric element (7) secured in a cylindrical housing (10), where the piezoelectric element (7) is pressed by a spring (4) against a front surface of the housing (10). The aim of the invention is to design a pressure wave sensor of the above kind in such a way that its sensitivity is increased. This is achieved in that the front of the housing consists of a metal foil (11) and there is a pressure pad (8) of soft metal between said metal foil (11) and the piezoelectric element (7).
