A PROCESS FOR INHIBITING SMOOTH MUSCLE CELL PROLIFERATION AND MOTILITY

A process of inhibiting smooth muscle cell proliferation and motility is provided. In accordance with the process, the activity of myosin light chain kinase is increased in the muscle cell by transfecting the cell with an expression vector containing a polynucleotide that encodes myosin light chain kinase or a catalytic portion thereof. A process of treating myointimal hyperplasia is also provided.
