Proposed is a concrete, stoneware or cast pipe with a pipe tip (1) and pipe bell (2) containing a peripheral test chamber (5) between a sliding ring seal (4) and hose seal (3) capable of being activated, from which a compressed material can be discharged to effect secondary sealing. The test chamber (5) can be connected to a test line (11). Also disclosed is a method of monitoring the leak-tightness and sealing of the pipe connections: a peripheral test chamber (5) is provided between pipe tip (1) and bell (2) and between two ring seals at least one of which is a hose seal (3) capable of being activated. The test chamber is pressurised to at least 0.2 bar via a test line (11) and the pressure loss is measured to reveal and locate leaks, the hose seal (3) then being activated. It is thus possible to detect, locate and seal leaks as soon as damage occurs.
