PURPOSE:To discriminate the propriety of a recording head to be mounted by feeding a predetermined current to a temperature detector composed of a diode, and detecting a voltage drop at that time. CONSTITUTION:A head cartridge 14 has a recording head including an ink discharge port 26 and composed by adhering a heater board 27 and a ceiling plate 30, and an ink tank 50. A discharge heater 5 is provided on the heater board 27, and a temperature sensor 2 is provided to detect the temperature of the recording head to suitably control the head temperature. This sensor 2 is composed of a diode cell. A power source 204 for supplying a supply voltage Vcc to the temperature detector is varied at the supply voltage Vcc by the control of a CPU 201 when the characteristic of the temperature sensor 2 is inspected, first and second predetermined currents are fed to the temperature sensor 2, the respective forward voltage drops Vr are detected at this time, and the values are stored in a RAM. Then, whether the stored detection values fall in predetermined ranges determined for the recorder bodies or not is judged. |
