PURPOSE:To manufacture the tool sintered material having improved wear resistance and reduced chipping and fracture by mixing CBN powder grains, PSZ powder grains and the powder grains of Al and Ti in specified ratios and sintering the mixture. CONSTITUTION:By volume, 40 to 90% cubic boron nitride(CBN) powder grains, 5 to 55% partially stabilized zirconia(PSZ) powder grains and 1 to 10% Al and/or Ti powder grains are uniformly. mixed and stirred. At this time, as a stabilizer for PSZ, yttrium oxide and the like are used. Next, the mixture is charged to a vessel of a high m.p. material; while pressurized to about 40 to 60Kb with an ultra high pressure apparatus by HIP or the like, it is heated to the temp. area of 1200 to 1800 deg.C and is held for about 0.5 to 30min. In this way, the tool sintered material having high hardness in the high temp. condition of about 600 to 800 deg.C can be obtd. |
