PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy in the detection of knocking of internal-combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:The strength is sampled a plurality of times for a plurality of specific frequency components in a specific section. A frequency contribution rate KFi is then retrieved for each cylinder and the r.p.m. region of an internal- combustion engine. A maximum level is then selected from among a plurality of strength values for each frequency component and multiplied by a corresponding frequency contribution rate and summed to operate a maximum level KSi. A mean value of the plurality of strength values is also calculated for each frequency component and multiplied by a corresponding frequency contribution rate and summed to operate a mean level SLi. Finally, the difference between the maximum level and mean level is compared with a predetermined value to decide the presence of knocking. |
