摘要 Ultrasonic probe 100 for imaging tissues has a housing 122 near the probe's distal end 108, an ultrasonic beam emitting assembly 124 having a pivotable part 138, and a driver 144 for producing a pivotal motion on the pivotable part. The pivotable part has on it either a transducer 144 for emitting ultrasound or a reflector (130, fig. 5), so that when the pivotable part pivots, it sweeps ultrasonic energy over a selected angle. Transducer assembly 124 includes a ferromagnetic material 142 and a piezoelectric transducer 144 and is moved by pivotable movement of the plate 138 about torsion arms 140A, 140C caused by magnetic field variations due to a proximate electromagnet 154 (figs. 8 & 9). Alternatively, a flap arrangement can be used (fig. 17). All driving motions for scanning the beam occur near the distal end of the probe. Micromachining methods for the manufacture of the microactuator and transducer assembly are described.
