Power saving method for handhold transceiver

Field strength tables are cyclically formed simultaneously with pauses in the synchronisation attempts to reduce the current consumption of the telephone. The pauses are created (or removed) by the user via a menu point in a MMI (Man Machine Interface). The user also uses the MMI to determine the duration of the pauses. The pauses can also be varied automatically. Current consumption can also be reduced during breaks (pauses) by switching off hardware functions (receiver, digital reception path).
