<p>PURPOSE:To improve a carry performance of a golf club without spoiling its directionality of flight by setting the ratio of the golf club's natural frequency in deflective direction to that in torsional direction within a specified range. CONSTITUTION:It is necessary for a golf club to set the ratio (F1/F2) of natural frequency in deflective direction F1 to that in torsional direction F2 within 0.9-1.2, preferably within 0.95-1.10. On the other hand, since the frequency in deflective direction should preferably be suitable to the swing speed of a player, F1 can not be changed substantially. Therefore, when manufacturing a driver, the composition of a shaft 2 made of fiber-reinforced plastic, such as epoxy or polyester plastics reinforced with carbon fibers, should be modified to a large extent. Carbon fibers 10 are usually embedded in the shaft 2 as a form of carbon fabric that is wound around the shaft, however, F2 can be reduced by changing the weave of the fabric 11.</p> |
