PURPOSE:To remove the projections above a prescribed height from the surface of color filters without adversely affecting the other parts and to improve the yield of production by quantitatively detecting the projections existing on the surface of an over coat layer by means of a detector and guiding a pressing terminal to the position of the projection above the prescribed height and pressing the projection. CONSTITUTION:A black matrix 3 is formed on a light transparent substrate 2. The color filters 4 are then formed in the parts corresponding to the apertures. An epoxy resin and a liquid contg. a high boiling solvent are then applied thereon by spin coating to form the over coat layer 5. The layer 5 has heat resistance and is transparent and has the effect of relieving the ruggedness of the surface by coating the surface of the color filters 4. The projections occurring in the projections, etc., formed on the surface of the color filters 4 are produced on the surface of the layer 5. The surface of the layer 5 is then quantitatively detected by the detector and the position of the projection above the prescribed reference height existing on this surface is detected. The pressing terminal is guided to this position and 1 to 20kg/cm<2> force is applied to the pressing terminal. The projection above the reference height is pressed by this pressing terminal and is plastically deformed to the reference height or below. |
