Operating device for the position of a sunroof in motor vehicle

The sunroof position control device includes the position detector monitoring the actual position of the sunroof, and delivering a signal related to position to the controller driving the sunroof motor. The actual position of the roof is indicated to the driver by a number of electroluminescent diodes placed at intervals round the periphery of the control knob used by the driver to set the required position of the sunroof. The freely rotating control knob has magnets that send increment/decrement signals as the knob is rotated. The driver setting thus changes the position of the roof relative to where it is actually positioned.
