The present invention relates to a phase-locked loop demodulator comprising, between its input (E) and its output (S):

  - a mixer (10);
  - a loop filter (11); a VCO being connected between the output (S) of the said demodulator and an input of the mixer,
  - a lock-on detection circuit (13), the output signal from which enables the static loop gain to be modified by altering the characteristics of the filter (11).

Application in particular to the field of space telecommunications.
