PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display data obtained by means of a currently used probe in the form of two-dimensional pictures by calculating the writing and reading-out addresses corresponding to the probe by means of a control means and alternately outputting the addresses. SOLUTION: A CPU 310 transmits all information necessary for forming a two-dimensional picture out of echo signals obtained from a currently used probe to a control section 340 and the section 340 stores the information in an internal memory and calculates the sampling clock information and picture displaying clock information corresponding to the probe by using the stored information. The section 340 controls so that the data stored in a frame memory 420 can be displayed on a screen while a frame synchronous signal/OF is at a low level and the data inputted to a FIFO memory 370 can be stored in the memory 420 while the signal OF is at a high level. An address adjusting section 5110 latches X-addresses impressed from the control section 340 and stores and outputs Y-addresses.
