PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a printing capability per a single line of a sheet 1 making a large effective printing width available by providing a notched part for allowing part of a printing means to be transferred in a projecting fashion on the lateral part of a case during printing operation, on the lateral face of the case, and mounting a protecting member for the printing means which prevents dust from penetrating into the case from the notched part. SOLUTION: A protecting member 12 for a printing means for protecting the printing means through a hinge 13 is mounted on a notched part, located on the case side of a word processor main body 1. Prior to the operation of a word processor, a printer cover 8 is opened and at the same time, the protecting member 12 is opened via the hinge 13. In this case, it is structurally designed beforehand so that the protecting member 12 is projected to the lateral part of a case for the word processor main body 1 by a larger size l4 than the maximum projecting width of an ink film cassette. Under this structural design, the ink film cassette is protected against an external force, e.g. an unexpected trouble such as the accidental touching of the ink film cassette by hand. Thus the adequate protection of a printing mechanism is ensured. |
