PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance color purity and to improve color reproducibility by forming the triangular shapes on the color coordinates of the transmitted light of three colors transmitted through color filters to the areas larger than the areas of the triangular shapes formed on the color coordinates in accordance with the transmission characteristics of the color filters. SOLUTION: A light emitting source has steep light emission spectra in the respective wavelength bands corresponding to three color elements of red, green and blue. The wavelength transmission characteristics of the color filters have such characteristics that a curve exhibiting the light transmission characteristic of the blue color filters and a curve exhibiting the light transmission characteristic of the green color filters intersect with each other and that the curve exhibiting the light transmission characteristic of the green color filters and a curve exhibiting the light transmission characteristic of the red color filters intersect with each other. The triangular shapes on the color coordinates of the transmitted light of the three colors transmitted through the color filters are formed to the areas larger than the areas of the triangular shape formed on the color coordinates in accordance with the transmission characteristics of the color filters. |
