PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sleeping and awakening device for performing functions for helping sleeping and awakening by generating music for helping the sleeping by the information of a mode judgement means in the case of turning ON a sleeping switch and the music for awakening from the prescribed time before rising time in the case of turning ON an awakening switch. SOLUTION: The mode judgement means 9 for receiving signals from the sleeping switch 4 or the awakening switch 5, judging a sleeping mode or an awakening mode and generating the signals corresponding to the mode and the signals for indicating the present time to a present time display means 8 by receiving the signals of a timer 3 for timing the present time and a music generation means 2 for receiving the signals of a music kind selection switch 10, a rhythm selection switch 11 and a musical scale selection switch 12 and generating the music corresponding to the signals are provided inside the main body 1 of this sleeping and awakening device. The timer 3 and the mode judgement means 9 are composed of a microcomputer.
