PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain excellent buildup properties by forming a dye comprising a triazine compound represented by a specified formula. SOLUTION: A coupling component (e.g. 1-amino-8hydroxynaphthalene-6- sulfonic acid) is dissolved in water, cyanuric chloride is added to this solution under agitation, and the obtained mixture is reacted at a pH of 3-9 and about 0-30 deg.C. The obtained product is coupled with a diazo component (e.g. diazotized 2-aminonaphthalene-1,5,7-trisulfonic acid). A compound (e.g. aniline-3-β- hydroxyethyl sulfone) represented by the formula: HN(NR2 )-A-SO2 CH2 CH2 OH is added to the product of coupling, and the obtained mixture is condensed at a pH of 4-8 and about 20-60 deg.C. After the reaction, the product is salted out, separated by filtration and dried to obtain a reactive dye comprising a triazine compound represented by formula I [wherein A is phenylene or naphthylene; R1 and R2 are each H or a lower alkyl; and D is an organic azo dye residue represented by formula II (wherein D0 is a bicyclic aryl or the like; and the asterisk mark * means that the N(CR1 ) in formula I is bonded to the position 6, 7 or 8 of the naphthalene nucleus)].
