PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method and apparatus by which formation of vertical seams is suppressed and the efficiency of coating layer formation is improved. SOLUTION: The flow rates of an upper layer coating material QS1 and a lower layer coating material QS2 by a pump 1 and a pump 2 are so adjusted as to satisfy the expressions QS1=10×Q1 and QS2=2×Q2, respectively (in a step S3), a die is brought into contact with a film (in a step S4), a valve 1 and a valve 2 are set in the closed state (in a step S5), and a large quantity of the coating materials is sprayed for a 0.5 second or longer, and after that, the flow rates of the coating materials by the pump 1 and the pump 2 are turned back to prescribed spraying amounts Q1, Q2, respectively (in a step 6) and then coating is started (in a step S7).
