<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device and a reproducing device, which can realize editing in a group unit or a frame unit through the use of inter-frame encoding. SOLUTION: Compression data in the group unit, which are constituted by plural frames compressed by MPEG and the like, are inputted from a compression picture input part 101. An intra-frame number detection part 102 detects the number of the frames contained in the inputted group. A group recording area decision part 103 decides a recording area in the group unit, which is proportional to almost the number of the detected frames. Picture encoding data in the group unit, which are inputted to a picture encoding data arrangement part 104, are arranged in a group recording area which is decided here. A recording part 105 records data. Thus, data can independently be edited in the group unit with such constitution.</p> |
