PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of editing operation by detecting a range to be an editing object for each unit switched by basing on a specified position and displaying this editing objective range by means of a specific display form. SOLUTION: This device is provided with six kinds of the range specifying units of 'character', 'word', 'segment', 'line', 'paragraph' and 'block' to specify an editing objective range for each unit. In this case, the range specifying units can successively be switched through the use of a mouse 15 or a keyboard 14. Namely, at the time of using the mouse 15, a mouse cursor is fitted to the item of the range specifying unit of a status bar to click. At the time of using the keyboard 14, a prescribed key is depressed. At the time of switching the range specifying unit through the use of the status bar or the prescribed key, the editing objective range is specify-displayed (reverse display, e.g.) by each of the units. |
