PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a latent-image ghost by means of pre-exposure without shortening the life of a laser diode and to obtain a more satisfactory image. SOLUTION: Prior to exposure, the laser diode is turned on to irradiate only an irradiation area on a photoreceptor 12 which consists of an irradiation area E consisting of an image formation area I and margins M provided before and after the image formation area I, and a synchronous detection signal generation area S for laser beam detection by a synchronous detector. |
