PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accurate piezoelectric vibration gyro by reducing output when it is not rotating where no rotary angular velocity is applied. SOLUTION: In a piezoelectric vibration gyro for performing drive and detection by utilizing the flex mode of a column-shaped piezoelectric vibrator, the piezoelectric vibrator of the above piezoelectric vibration gyro is a column- shaped vibrator with a circular section and has at least two band-shaped electrodes 21 and 23 for drive on a sectional circumference. The electrodes 21 and 23 are arranged so that vibrations in two cross directions can be independently excited. The above piezoelectric vibrator can be excited in elliptical motion including a circle by applying two types of AC voltages whose frequency is nearly equal to the resonance frequency of the flex vibration of the piezoelectric vibrator and whose phase differs. |
