PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a slub yarn capable of obtaining a good mottled feeling due to a slub effect even in the case of white cloth by interlace-treating an un-stretched polyester multifilament yarn and unevenly stretching at a specific condition. SOLUTION: This stub yarn is obtained by interlace-treating an un-stretched polyester multifilament yarn 1 having 10×10<-3> -20×10<-3> birefringence with an air nozzle 2 for interlacing, then unevenly stretching by setting 10-30 deg.C temperature, preferably approximately 18-23 deg.C (a room temperature), between a feed roller 3 and a stretching roller 4, and winding the stub yarn with a roller 7. The slub yarn excellent in the marked slub effect is obtained.
