MODIFIED POLYPROPYLENE RESIN AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the above propylene resin whose extension viscosity measured in a melted state steeply increases with the increase of distortion, by melting and kneading a polypropylene resin with an aromatic vinyl monomer and a radical polymerization initiator. SOLUTION: This modified polypropylene resin is obtained by melt-kneading (A) a polypropylene resin (e.g. polypropylene homopolymer, the block copolymer of propylene with one or more other monomers such as ethylene) with (B) an aromatic vinyl monomer and (C) a radical polymerization initiator [e.g.α,α'-bis(di-t-butylperoxy-misopropyl)benzene] e.g. in an A:B:C wt. ratio of 100:(3-30):(0.1-4) at approximately 160-400 deg.C.
