PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent ordinary fogging and a defect such as image memory from occurring, to easily and surely control compatibility between toner and a developing roller and to surely prevent high-potential fogging from occurring by directly injecting charge in toner and increasing and uniformizing the electrostatic charge amount of the toner. SOLUTION: In this developing method; developer 4 is supplied to the surface of a latent image holding body 3 to make an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the holding body 3 visualizable. The ionization potential of the surface of the developer 4 is set to 4.5 to 5.5eV, and the ionization potential of the surface of the developing roller 1 is adjusted to be equal to or above the ionization potential of the surface of the developer 4 in the case of negatively electrostatically charging the developer and it is adjusted to be equal to or under the ionization potential of the surface of the developer 4 in the case of positively electrostatically charging the developer. Then, development is performed. |
